Editor note: This review is an original English adaptation by Notebook Center based on source material from Notebook-Center.ru.
Overview
The ASUS VivoBook 15 M513 is positioned as an affordable all-round 15.6-inch laptop for students, office work, and home tasks. The tested configuration uses an AMD Ryzen 5 4500U, 16 GB of memory, and a 512 GB SSD, so the focus is practical daily performance rather than premium extras.

Design and Build
The design is simple and clean, with a metal lid and a plastic base. Build quality is solid for this class: the chassis does not creak, though the keyboard deck can flex slightly during heavy typing. The hinge holds the screen firmly, but opening with one hand is difficult. Maintenance access is straightforward after removing the bottom cover screws.
Display, Audio, and Webcam
The laptop has a matte Full HD IPS panel with around 330 nits brightness and about 1300:1 contrast. It is comfortable indoors and handles reflections well, but brightness headroom outdoors is limited. sRGB coverage is around 55%, so it is better for casual media and basic content work than color-critical editing. Harman Kardon speakers are a clear strong point, while the 720p webcam is usable for calls but delivers a soft, grainy image.
Keyboard and Touchpad
The full-size keyboard includes a numpad and backlight, with a 1.4 mm key travel and generally comfortable feedback. Large Shift and CapsLock keys are easy to use, but the narrow arrow keys are less convenient. The touchpad tracks reliably and supports multitouch gestures well for everyday navigation.
Performance for Daily Tasks
The 6-core Ryzen 5 4500U (2.3-4.0 GHz) and integrated Radeon Vega 6 handle office software, web work, communication apps, and light creative tasks without issue. The hardware can also run lighter games such as Dota 2 and CS:GO at moderate settings. In short, performance is well aligned with mainstream day-to-day use.
Ports, Connectivity, and Battery Behavior
Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0, plus HDMI, USB Type-C, USB 3.2, microSD, and two USB 2.0 ports. The presence of two USB 2.0 ports is the main port-related compromise. The 42 Wh battery achieved about 10 hours of web browsing at roughly 150 nits in the source test, around 6-7 hours for video streaming, and around 1-1.5 hours in gaming. The system also stays fairly quiet, with surface temperatures kept under control under load.
Verdict
The ASUS VivoBook 15 M513 is a practical budget laptop for study, office routines, and home use. Its main strengths are balanced everyday performance, good keyboard comfort, strong speakers, and useful battery life in light workloads. The main compromises are limited color coverage, only moderate display brightness for outdoor work, a weak 720p webcam, and outdated USB 2.0 ports. For buyers who prioritize value and daily usability over premium display quality, it remains a sensible option.
