Overview

Huawei MateBook D 15 is a 15.6-inch laptop aimed at everyday work and study. Design and Build

The chassis uses an aluminum alloy body with a matte finish. At 358 x 230 x 17 mm and about 1.5 kg, the device is portable for daily commuting. The design is minimal and the hinge allows one-hand opening, while the display bezels are slim except for a thicker bottom edge.

Display, Audio, and Webcam

The laptop uses a matte 15.6-inch Full HD IPS panel (1920 x 1080, 141 ppi, 16:9). Reported peak brightness is up to 250 nits, so outdoor use in bright sunlight can be limited. Contrast is around 1000:1 and sRGB coverage is about 63%, which is acceptable for daily use but not ideal for color-critical work. Stereo speakers are present, and the 720p pop-up webcam is placed in the keyboard area between function keys.

Keyboard, Performance, and Daily Use

The island-style keyboard is comfortable for long typing sessions, though it has no backlight and no numeric keypad. The touchpad is large and supports multi-touch gestures. Performance is stable for multitasking with browser tabs, messaging, and standard editing workloads, supported by 16 GB RAM and fast SSD storage. A fingerprint scanner is integrated into the power button.

Ports, Connectivity, and Battery

Physical ports include two USB 2.0 ports and a 3.5 mm audio jack on the right, plus USB 3.2, USB Type-C, and HDMI on the left. Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1. The 42 Wh battery is rated in the source review at roughly 5.5 to 6 hours for web browsing or YouTube playback at 50% brightness, and around 1 hour under maximum load. Noise and surface temperatures are generally well controlled in normal use.

Verdict

MateBook D 15 offers a balanced specification set for mainstream users who need a reliable daily laptop with solid memory and storage. Its main strengths are practical performance, build quality, and portability. The key compromises are limited display brightness, modest color coverage, and battery life that is only moderate for this class.
